With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time.

EBeam’s mission encapsulates its role as the “eyes” of KLA’s product line, providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible.  Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.


This individual will serve as a key optical/systems engineer in KLA’s Electron Beam (E-beam) division with the aim of identifying and developing current and next-generation tools to support the division’s and KLA’s overall roadmap.  

The successful candidate will:

  • Drive hardware and technology development from the initial concept and design phase, through prototyping, productization and the hand-off to manufacturing.
  • Design hardware or experiments for charged particle system characterization and critical risk retirement of those systems.
  • Debug test setups, execute experiments, collect and analyze data and present results to stakeholders.
  • Critically analyze KLA’s current E-beam semiconductor systems to identify focus areas for improvement and perform data reduction, analyze results, and present findings.
  • Create systems requirements, including mechanical, electrical, and software, for E-Beam improvements and communicate them across KLA’s engineering teams.
  • Work to source key systems components such as hardware, guns, columns and detectors. 
  • Will be instrumental in troubleshooting these systems as they are developed and establish the metrology and diagnostics needed to understand and efficiently utilize these highly complex tools.


5-10 years charged particle experience primarilary with electron beam systems.

Good written and presentation skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) OR Master's Level Degree with at least 2 years of experience. OR Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 3 years of experience.
