Group/Division

The Legal Compliance Organization (LCO) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA provides legal guidance to further KLA’s strategic objectives and protect and preserve the legal, ethical and financial integrity and reputation of the Company. With specific expertise in the areas of corporate law, commercial law, employment law, intellectual property and Global trade compliance; the LCO offers strategic legal counsel that is informed by a clear understanding of the company’s business objectives and expertise in the laws and regulations relevant to the business worldwide.

Responsibilities

Reporting into the Director of Global Trade Compliance in the US Corporate office, this role is responsible for the coordination of import and export compliance activities in China, maintaining import and export functional procedures, providing guidance on trade compliance related issues, performing audits, and conducting training. The position will also support regional trade compliance activities as needed.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay current on trade compliance regulatory developments, proactively assess impact to the business as well as assess any actions/changes required to maintain compliance
  • Develop and conduct Trade Compliance Awareness training across all KLA locations within China, enforcing compliance processes and procedures
  • Respond to ad hoc trade compliance related requests and inquiries related to import/export transactions
  • Develop, implement and maintain standard trade compliance procedures for all KLA locations in China
  • Manage local HS classification process and import e-book requirements
  • Determine if local/regional import/export licensing is required with various governmental authorizing agencies and manage process
  • Support daily operations needs by providing guidance to local and regional teams and reviewing/releasing export orders as needed
  • Liaise with local Customs Authorities and other Governmental Agencies as required
  • Assist Corporate Trade Compliance with due diligence and risk assessments; perform internal compliance assessments
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure that global trade compliance is maintained, and overall organization objectives are supported

Qualifications

  • BS or BA is preferred, along with 8 years Trade Compliance experience and a good understanding of International Business
  • Good knowledge of China import/export regulations, especially Customs Valuation, HS Tariff Classification, Country of Origin, e-book requirements
  • Experience with SAP automated import/export compliance software system (GTS) is helpful
  • US Export/Reexport Regulations knowledge preferred
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Good analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience in high tech industry preferred
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Able to work across multiple time zones
