The Customer Group (CG) team is our field based, customer facing organization consisting of Sales, Marketing, Applications, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities & IT.  They partner closely with our customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of products, services, software and expertise, to help them manage yield throughout their fabrication process—from research and development to final volume production.  Responsibilities of this group include maintaining strategic client relationships, identifying and closing sales opportunities, ensuring our products meet performance capabilities & expectations, providing critical solutions for improved yield performance, and collecting requirements for future products by understanding customer processes and technology trends.  Partnering with our service organization and factory divisions, this diverse and dynamic team helps ensure alignment between customer needs and corporate offering to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.  


These jobs develop and implement product applications for existing KLA products to provide maximum value to the customer.  They focus on projects related to product installation, customer education on product knowledge and usage capability.  They perform product diagnosis and problem resolution, and interface with customer and KLA internal groups to verify that hardware and software problems have been resolved.  They generate best known method documents, application notes and other applicable training materials.  Field Applications Engineers also support any sales potential with situation like demonstration, Head to Head, product beta support, Joint Development Program to showcase KLA's product.  They also provide strategic sales support by providing competitive analysis, in-depth fab usage profile and gap analysis.



Ph.D. or Masters degree (Science or Engineering) or BS with 1-3 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in engineering applications.

Includes previous level plus:

  • Understands engineering principles and techniques related to area project activities.  Working knowledge of major system components and their interactions.
  • Good working knowledge[1] of customer processing knowledge.
  • Good working knowledge of various applications.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic customer issues (e.g. separating service related issues from Applications).
  • Strong communication skills especially technical writing skills.

[1] Good working knowledge implies understanding as well as the ability to apply theories and concepts in a variety of circumstances.
