Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Responsibilities

As part of the Product Development Engineering team you play a key role in the design and development of our Inspection and Metrology tools. In your role you will work on the design, integration, automation, optimization and manufacturing transfer of the Gas Purification and Recycling System (GPRS) and will hence work closely together with Mechanical design, Research, SW, Service and Manufacturing teams.


Your work involves the GPRS System design, integration and manufacturing transfer:

  • Analyze and define customer requirements
  • Work with the design team to outline propose potential HW and SW solutions
  • Understand, analyze, (re-)define, implement, validate and roll out the GPRS
  • Write software requirement documents and coordinate software development for GPRS testing and qualification
  • Challenge existing concepts and drive speed improvement solutions in all engineering fields (gas handling, mechanical, electrical, pneumatical, software, …
  • Test and validate GPRS requirements
  • Oversee the operation and service of prototype GPRS
  • Release the new GPRS to manufacturing and service and provide procedures and documentation for overall production


As a Gas Purification and Recycling System Lead Engineer, you will work according to the following core principles:

  • Understand the whole problem before you try to solve it
  • Translate the problem into measurable requirements
  • Examine all feasible alternatives before selecting a solution
  • Make sure you consider the total system life cycle. The birth to death concept extends to maintenance, replacement and decommission
  • Make sure to test the total system before delivering it.
  • Document everything

Qualifications

  • MS degree + 5 years of experience or BS degree + 8 years of experience with outstanding skill in electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, electronics, software or mechanical engineering.
  • Preferably with 8+ years relevant experience in a system engineering role in a high-end equipment company, covering some of following technical domains: machine conceptual and mechanical design, gas handling systems, pneumatic system, temperature control systems, setting up specifications, setup characterization, test protocols, debugging, characterization, manage improvement projects
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Programming skills are a plus (Labview, PLC controllers, C, C++ Python, VBA, Matlab)
  • Preferably with 2+ years’ experience in design and operating of cryogenic systems
  • Preferably with 2+ years’ experience in design and operating of high-pressure gas systems
  • Independent thinking, challenging existing ideas and approaches
  • Hands-on, self-organized, taking initiative and ownership
  • Willing to work in a small and dynamic team
  • USA based (Milpitas, CA). Will require international travel
  • Fluent in English

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS degree + 6 years of experience or BS degree + 8 years of experience with outstanding skill in electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, electronics, software or mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in a system engineering role in a high-end equipment company, covering some of following technical domains: machine conceptual and mechanical design, gas handling systems, pneumatic system, temperature control systems, setting up specifications, setup characterization, test protocols, debugging, characterization, manage improvement projects
  • Independent thinking, challenging existing ideas and approaches
  • Hands-on, self-organized, taking initiative and ownership
  • Willing to work in a small and dynamic team
  • USA based (Milpitas, CA). Willing to travel internationally
  • Fluent in English
