Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

The LS-SWIFT Division of KLA’s Global Products Group provides patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.  Its mission is to deliver market-leading cost of ownership in defect detection for a broad range of applications in the production of semiconductors. Customers from the foundry, logic, memory, automotive, MEMS, advanced packaging and other markets rely upon high-sample wafer inspection information generated by LS-SWIFT products.

LS (Laser Scanning) systems enable cost-effective patterned wafer defect detection for the industry’s most sophisticated process technologies deployed in leading-edge foundry, logic, DRAM, and NAND fabs.  SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Throughput) systems deliver all-wafer-surface (frontside, backside, and edge) macro inspection that is critical for automotive IC, MEMS, and advanced packaging processes as well as foundry/logic and memory fabs.

LS-SWIFT operates from a global footprint that includes the US, Singapore, India and Germany, and serves a worldwide customer base across Asia, Europe and North America.

 

Responsibilities

As the of Director of Algorithms, you will build and lead a highly innovative team to help our wafer inspection products achieve next level of performance through AI, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.

You will bring your proven experience leading a team of engineers to design and deploy large-scale production machine learning/computer vision systems with sophisticated software architectures for real time applications.

  • Lead strategic impact in algorithm development strategy for the business
  • Drive incremental value and make tactical decisions that support strategic objectives
  • Leverage deep industry experience and advise against suboptimal strategies and one-time hacks, quickly pushing the team towards generic and robust solutions
  • Transform customer and business requirements into scalable and complete technical solutions backed by deep analysis and understanding
  • Embrace and implement modern technologies and frameworks.  Utilize expertise in software architectures and tech stack is a plus
  • Acquire, retain, and grow an expert team comprised of both individual contributors and leaders and help them thrive individually and as a team
  • Communicate effectively on technical, business, and executive levels
  • Create an environment and culture that promotes effective listening and one that is open to many diverse voices and perspectives
  • Develop and nurture collaborative partnerships that are blind to team and regional boundaries and promote cross-functional solutions 

 

Qualifications

  • Our ideal candidate is passionate about and has experience with applied machine learning, spanning some or all deep learning, computer vision and high-speed computing concepts. You are hands-on
  • B.S/M.S. in computer science or related field required
  • Ph.D. in Computer Vision/ Machine Learning or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in shipping Computer Vision/Deep Learning products from design to execution to deployment
  • 5+ years of hands-on commercial software development in C/C++ or Python
  • Experience with CNN training and deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow and Keras
  • Experience in lifecycle product development from inception through delivery with short release cycles
  • Experience in High Performance Computing, throughput and compute cost optimization
  • Optional Skills
    • Software Architectures and tech stack for real time processing.
    • Semiconductor Industry Background
    • Inspection and/or Metrology background

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Academic) with at least 7 years of experience OR
  • Master's Level Degree with at least 8 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 10 years of experience
