The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support.  The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.


New and sustaining product service engineering.  Serves as the central technical resource / interface with design engineering, manufacturing, technical support, quality, marketing and field as the product(s) move through the Product Life Cycle. Will be fully integrated and working directly with aforementioned teams to incorporate value added serviceability, reliability and service business practice improvements into product design.  Works to optimize serviceability, reduce cost-of-service through all stages of the PLC, and  improve short and long term product service revenue performance. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle to ensure system level product performance is continuously tracked and meets established specification . Drives continuous improvement of system hardware, diagnostics and software, tooling, technical documentation, knowledge management, and training.



  • Bachelor’s degree required (Masters preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Software or related technical field. 
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, documenting and/or troubleshooting electro/mechanical assemblies. 
  • Thorough knowledge of atmospheric robots and good understanding of electronics, software, and wafer handling subsystems. 
  • Solid mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods. 
  • Results-oriented and driven to excel. 
  • Enjoys teaching, troubleshooting, working with groups of people, and explaining complex things as simply as possible. 
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Able to work effectively in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams and to take a leadership role when needed. 
  • Quick grasp of complex technical information 
  • Availability for travel both domestically and internationally (<25% time). 
  • Able to work non-standard working hours if needed. 
  • Able to assess system electronics, software, and mechanics with respect to design for reliability, stability, and serviceability. Able to develop and document maintenance, troubleshooting, and part replacement procedures. 
  • Able to gathers and analyze data from the field to identify sources of systematic issues. 
  • Able to write technical reports to communicate issues, analysis, technical assessments, system status and engineering recommendations.
