With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products. We are looking for the brightest research scientists, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

The LS-SWIFT Division is looking for passionate professionals!  We operate from a global footprint that includes the US, Singapore, India, and Germany, and serves a worldwide customer base across Asia, Europe, and North America, providing patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Its mission is to deliver the market-leading cost of ownership in defect detection for a broad range of applications in the production of semiconductors. Customers from the foundry, logic, memory, automotive, MEMS, sophisticated packaging and other sectors rely upon high-sample wafer inspection information generated by LS-SWIFT products.

LS (Laser Scanning) systems enable cost-effective patterned wafer defect detection for the industry’s most sophisticated process technologies deployed in the leading-edge foundry, logic, DRAM, and NAND fabs. SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Efficiency) systems deliver all-wafer-surface (frontside, backside, and edge) macro inspection that is crucial for automotive IC, MEMS, and advanced packaging processes as well as foundry/logic and memory fabs.



Responsibilities for this exciting role will include:

  • Independently develop major product features on an FPGA and support sophisticated projects to meet technology, performance, and schedule objectives.
  • Understand and gather project specifications and performance requirements on the FPGA level.
  • Propose and develop RTL code in HDL, modify and integrate the existing IP cores to achieve the desired functionality.
  • Develop test benches, perform functional and/or post-layout simulations, timing analysis/closure, FPGA verification, and validate on sensor characterization system.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, research scientists, sensor design, and characterization specialists to develop the sensor characterization solution and ensure a flawless integration test at the subsystem and/or system level.
  • Detail the design information and control the firmware source code.
  • Provide mentorship, support, and assistance to less experienced, electrical design engineers.

Must have the flexibility to travel outside of Michigan based on business needs.



Required qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical project management, be an excellent communicator, and a standout colleague with the following skills:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a Design Engineer
  • Deep understanding and extensive experience in FPGA design including simulation, timing analysis, and verification testbench development.
  • Hands-on experience in the development of FPGA from concept to production (spec, register definition, and coding, Verilog RTL, synthesis, timing closure, debug, release to MFG)
  • Proficient in HDL language (System Verilog, Verilog).
  • Familiar with FPGA development tools, such as Vivado or Quartus software.
  • Experience with digital signal processing and a solid understanding of 10G serdes operation
  •  Comfortable with lab equipment like logic analyzer, oscilloscope, etc.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with large scale FPGA (Xilinx UltraScale+ or Intel Stratix 10) development and using sophisticated FPGA IPs such as embedded processors (ARM/MicroBlaze), Ethernet MAC, PCIe interface and DDR memory controller.
  • Knowledge and experience in SOC software development (C/C++ application and driver on embedded Linux).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Academic) with a least 3 years of experience OR
  • Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience
