AI Engineer

Company Overview

Calling the adventurers ready to join a company that's pushing the limits of nanotechnology to keep the digital revolution rolling. At KLA, we're making technology advancements that are bigger—and tinier—than the world has ever seen.

Who are we?  We research, develop, and manufacture the world's most advanced inspection and measurement equipment for the semiconductor and nanoelectronics industries. We enable the digital age by pushing the boundaries of technology, creating tools capable of finding defects smaller than a wavelength of visible light. We create smarter processes so that technology leaders can manufacture high-performance chips—the kind in that phone in your pocket, the tablet on your desk and nearly every electronic device you own—faster and better. We're passionate about creating solutions that drive progress and help people do what wouldn't be possible without us.  The future is calling. Will you answer?

Group/Division

The ICOS Vision Systems division focuses on the backend of the line semiconductor industry providing fully automated tools to inspect and sort, finished integrated circuit packages.  For more than 15 years, ICOS has been a market leader with tray-to-tray and tray-to-tape inspection and sorting tools found in the production facilities of all major chipmakers in the world. Our market-leading technology and superior customer service requires strong talent in optics, machine control, algorithms and applications within our engineering teams.  The ICOS division headquarters are in Leuven, Belgium with additional engineering and manufacturing operations in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China.

AI Engineer for the Algo team

The Algo team provides the “Vision Engine” serving as the core processing unit for all our inspection tools. By using state of the art technology both in hardware and software we can deliver the best performing algorithm and applications to all our customers. Since a few years we are also building up expertise within the machine learning and AI domain to further improve our capabilities to solve complex customer problems.

Job description:

Within the team your role as an AI engineer will be to work out new machine learning solutions based on data gathered from our tools. Beside the traditional software design for machine vision solutions you need to extract and combine available data that can be used to develop machine learning algorithm. Having a good understanding of the process and all aspects of deep learning will be needed to support our customers in deploying and maintaining good ML models.

We are looking for an AI engineer with a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience. The growing importance of DL/ML will allow to further grow within this position to become an authority in this domain. We are looking forward hearing about your practical experiences to setup deep learning models deployed and used in real production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Defining DL/ML solutions for new inspection challenges. Select proper model and training strategy based on requirements & available image and measurement data. Collaborating with other software teams on how these ML based inspection solutions can easily be integrated in our vision application.
  • Strengthen the team in extending the machine learning capabilities of our Vision Engine. Improve the hardware (use of GPU, low cost embedded inference systems) and the software inference framework.
  • Taking ownership of machine learning projects related to customer problems. Occasional travel to connect with customers and to have firsthand insights.
  • Support our field engineers and APPS division with the whole process flow of working with deep learning models and ML based algorithm in production environments. Ranging from BKM for labelling, training models, running and deployment a DL models up to monitoring results.

Qualifications

  • Minimum an MS degree in engineering, Computer Science, background on Applied research and data science.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming and design with hands-on experience in minimally 2 programming languages like Python, C/C++, Java.
  • Having 2-3 years of practical experience in the creation and deployment of deep learning models and machine learning algorithm using frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras or others.
  • A good understanding of statistics and mathematics.
