Group/Division

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed.

The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

 

Responsibilities

This is a R&D position within a dynamic and innovative technology development team, focusing on developing new electron beam source for wafer inspection and metrology equipment. As a member of this cutting-edge R&D team, the ideal candidate will bring up, design and validate power supply modules to characterize electron beam emitter and gun systems.

  • Work closely with scientists in CTO US and SG to gain deep understanding of technology and design challenges for CTO new electron beam emitter and delivery systems.
  • Gather stringent requirements for novel electron-beam drive system, make tradeoffs between subsystem capabilities & tool needs, evaluate commercial possibilities both for design and for supply, determine error budgets
  • Propose and design new high voltage power supply modules, exercise considerable latitude for initiating and developing designs, techniques and solution to resolve technical design problems.
  • Collaborate with research scientist, other team members, such as electric engineer and mechanical designers, to ensure flawless integration test at the subsystem and/or system level.
  • Liaise with high voltage power supply suppliers, oversee fabrication, create test plans, oversee testing, and perform integration into system for verification. Work closely with and manage suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved.
  • Hold design reviews with peers/management to show the proposed design can meet spec targets and requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master's level degree in electrical engineering or related with at least 8 years of experience or
  • Doctorate (Academic) in electrical engineering or related with at least 5 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge on high voltage concepts including electric stresses, insulation and breakdowns, earth ground referenced and other potential referenced systems.
  • Rich experience on high precision power supply noise ripple monitoring and troubleshooting; Rich experience on high voltage arc and micro-discharge detection and protection.
  • Rich working experience with high voltage electric systems. Demonstrate good knowledge of power electronic components and circuits including AC/DC and DC/DC converters, filters, voltage and current transducers, transformers, magnets and power semiconductors
  • Experience in electron beam systems.
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment like logic analyzer, oscilloscope, power supply etc.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
