Group/Division

The Information Technology (IT) group at KLA is involved in every aspect of the global business. Responsibilities

Required Knowledge and Skills:

This individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows, Linux and Storage systems that support Engineering Groups and corporate IT infrastructure;

Responsibilities on these systems include System Administration, engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation. 

Candidate must have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting skills on computer systems (Windows and Linux Environment) and networking
  • Windows servers administration - Active Directory, DFS, DNS, DHCP  
  • Knowledge on Linux (Suse, Redhat/CentOS, Ubuntu), Windows 7/10, Windows server 2008/2012/2016
  • Install, configure and maintain various Linux flavors (SUSE, Redhat, CentOS, Scientific Linux, Ubuntu etc.) and associated applications
  • Installs, configures and maintains system applications including SSH, TCP/IP, FTP, NIS, NFS, CIFS and Samba
  • Knowledge on Virtualization technologies like KVM, VMware and Nutanix
  • TCP/IP Networking, VPN, imaging Technologies, WAN acceleration technologies
  • Experience of supporting users for day to day support (Servers / Lab Infrastructure) in large corporate/engineering environment
  • Should be able to do Rack and Stack of servers in Data Center
  • Knowledge on Unix Environment will be an added advantage
  • Should have excellent problem-solving capability
  • Knowledge on storage technologies like Netapp, EMC etc.
  • Scripting knowledge is a plus

Engineering Product Development Responsibilities

  • IT-related solutions for various project and operational needs within engineering groups.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Install and configure systems infrastructures for Engineering Tool Developments.
  • Develop and maintain Golden Image process and procedure for Windows and Linux systems.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards and build process to provide support to the End of Life Hardware systems.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

Operations and Support responsibilities

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of key jobs.
  • Perform regular day to day support for Engineering Groups.
  • Provide L3/L4 support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Make sure that all the systems are part of virus scanner solution and get regular update from virus scanner server.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Communication and Problem Solving:

  • Take direction from the team lead and work within a team-environment to achieve organizational goals
  • This position requires communicating with different functional groups like Engineering, IT and Vendors.
  • Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
  • This person deals with a variety of problems. The questions/issues are typically clear and require determination of which answer (from a few choices) is the best

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Computer science or related field preferred.

Experience working in global enterprise environment and supporting Engineering groups.

Should be able to lift 50 lb weight

This position will require travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience, OR Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience, OR 10 years of IT system admin experience.
