SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.




Working as part of a small multi-disciplinary design team, primary responsibilities will involve the design, test and development of customer specified projects and continual improvement of our semiconductor production equipment. This will include hands on build and test of parts and assemblies, specifying and testing of OEM equipment, CAD modelling of parts and assemblies, as well as production of detailed CAD instructional drawings for use in manufacturing build.


Experience in the following areas is desirable but not essential:

  • Experience of assembling and testing complex electro/pneumatic mechanical assemblies and systems
  • Experience of designing 3D parts and assemblies
  • Creating and detailing 2D draft drawings
  • Creating engineering bills of materials.
  • FEA/stress analysis
  • Design for manufacture working with Production Engineering
  • Problem solving
  • Report writing


Prior experience of using Solid Edge is preferred but not essential.


The ideal candidate:

  • Will a have a flexible work ethic, and be willing to work overtime/shift if necessary
  • Will need to be prepared to travel
  • Will require basic understanding of electrical and control systems
  • Will have good analytical and fault finding skills
  • Will have the ability to use their own initiative
  • Will have good communication skills
  • Enjoy working in a team environment





Applicants should be educated to a minimum of 2:1 degree level in a science or engineering discipline.
