Group/Division

SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

 

Responsibilities

Working alongside our existing Quality Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for Investigating, analyzing and resolving supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and work with suppliers to prevent defects occurring where parts have been placed on Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Work with Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented
  • Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization and continuous improvement
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s to suppliers
  • Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals  
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply
  • Develop long‐term supplier relationships with the goal of preventing repeat issues and driving up the Overall Labour Effectiveness (OLE) on the shop-floor
  • Aid Manufacturing and Commodity Management in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers, parts and materials
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability to meet SPTS’ requirements.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams
  • Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes and improvements
  • Travel to supplier locations to resolve quality problems (1-2 per month), with some international travel
  • Initiate Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC) projects to prevent non‐conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Drafting of 8D reports for suppliers to action

May be asked to train as an ISO9001 auditor

Qualifications

  • Ideally degree qualified in an engineering or manufacturing subject
  • Strong IT Skills (Excel and PowerPoint), experience of ERP and MES systems preffered
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma and 8D experience is advantageous
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision  

 Experience

  • >3 years related experience in a Supplier Quality role
  • Reading and understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and fluid technical drawings
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and Six Sigma
