Group/Division

SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

Responsibilities

Join a growing manufacturing business in Newport who are investing heavily in their future. This is an exciting opportunity in a newly created role to allow the business to accelerating its outsourcing activities, expanding its supply chain, better support New Product Introduction (NPI) & Obsolescence and to enhance control at the point of new part release.

The overall supply chain consists of around 450 suppliers and >£100m spend, this role will focus predominantly on electrical and electronic supply although obsolescence support will require investigation and recommendation of alternative mechanical and OEM parts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working with 2D and 3D drawings in AutoCAD and Solid-Edge, and their control in Agile PLM
  • Review and approve datasheets and naming conventions for new catalogue components in-line with company standards to maintain compliance and traceability
  • Review electrical Change Orders to validate the quality of the assembly information before release into the supply chain
  • Review and amend drawings, assembly instructions and BOM structures to support suppliers in the manufacture of electrical sub-assemblies
  • Good communication skills to work with multiple internal departments and SPTS’ growing global supply base. You will be expected to build good client relationships and be able to effectively communicate detailed technical information
  • May need to visit supplier sites to understand their capabilities and propose changes to designs to with the supply chain capability
  • Help research suppliers where SPTS needs new capabilities or needs to relece an obsolete component
  • Working with production engineering and engineering for DFMA for NPI and cost reduction activities, providing early insight on improvements targeted at reducing cost, lead-time and potential quality issues
  • Creating, monitoring and improving against a backdrop of KPI’s aligned to internal and external customer requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified with an electrical engineering background
  • A very good understanding of electrical technical documentation especially in relation to how that information can be used is effective (electrical) box build
  • Understand manufacturing specifically box build with high content of hard wiring, I/O, PCB and PLC’s
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with people across the business
  • Good understanding of supply chain methods and replenishments systems would be advantageous
  • Target driven and pro-active with the desire to grow this role and support the development of the Supply Chain needs of SPTS
