Group/Division

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed.

The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

 

Responsibilities

This is a R&D position within a dynamic and innovative technology development team, focusing on developing novel, low-noise, high-speed UV image sensors for next generations of wafer inspection and metrology equipment. As a member of the cutting-edge image sensor R&D team, the ideal candidate will develop the FPGA solution on high speed image sensor board to process, transfer and store the image data for sensor characterization.

  • Work closely with scientists in CTO US to gain deep understanding of technology and engineering challenges of FPGA design used for low-noise, high-speed sensor systems.
  • Understand and capture the project specifications and performance requirements on FPGA level.
  • Propose and develop the RTL coding in HDL, modify and integrate the existing IP cores to achieve the desired functionality.
  • Develop the testbenches, perform functional and/or post layout simulations, timing analysis/closure, FPGA verification and validate on sensor characterization system.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineer, research scientist, sensor design and characterization experts to develop the sensor characterization solution and ensure flawless integration test at the subsystem and/or system level.
  • Document the design information and control the firmware source code. 

Qualifications

  • Master's level degree in electrical engineering or related with at least 5 years of experience or
  • Doctorate (Academic) in electrical engineering or related with at least 3 years of experience
  • Deep understanding and extensive experience in FPGA design including simulation, timing analysis and verification testbench development.
  • Proficient in HDL language (System Verilog, Verilog, VHDL). Knowledge of UVM and/or OpenCL is a plus.
  • Familiar with FPGA development tools, such as Vivado or Quartus software.
  • Experience with large scale FPGA (Xilinx UltraScale+ or Intel Stratix 10) development and using complex FPGA IPs such as embedded processors (ARM/MicroBlaze), Ethernet MAC, PCIe interface and DDR memory controller is preferred.
  • Experience with digital signal processing and communication protocols like Ethernet (UDP, TCP/IP).
  • Knowledge and experience in SOC software development (C/C++ application and driver on embedded Linux) is a plus.
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment like logic analyzer, oscilloscope etc.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
