The Legal Compliance Organization (LCO) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA provides legal guidance to further KLA’s strategic objectives and protect and preserve the legal, ethical and financial integrity and reputation of the Company. With specific expertise in the areas of corporate law, commercial law, employment law, and intellectual property; the LCO offers strategic legal counsel that is informed by a clear understanding of the company’s business objectives and expertise in the laws and regulations relevant to the business worldwide.


  • Provide advice regarding US and international intellectual property matters
  • Assist in preparation and prosecution of US and international patent applications
  • Provide analysis of prior art and third party IP rights
  • Negotiate and draft agreements involving intellectual property rights
  • Some international and domestic travel may be involved (up to 10%)


  • A degree (preferably an advanced degree) in physics or electrical engineering, or substantial prior experience in the semiconductor industry is required
  • Must be an attorney with at least five years of experience in a law firm or corporate environment
  • Must be registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Ability to meet the travel requirement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate with at least 5 years of experience AND
  • Admission to practice before USPTO and be an active member of a US state bar
