The Global Customer Organization (GCO) is our field based, customer facing organization consisting of Sales, Marketing, Applications, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities & IT.  They partner closely with our customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of products, services, software, and expertise, to help them manage yield throughout their fabrication process—from research and development to final volume production. 

Responsibilities of this group include maintaining strategic client relationships, identifying and closing sales opportunities, ensuring our products meet performance capabilities & expectations, providing critical solutions for improved yield performance, and collecting requirements for future products by understanding customer processes and technology trends. This diverse and dynamic team partners with KLA’s service organization and factory divisions to help ensure alignment between customer needs and corporate offering to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.



  • Process demonstrations.
  • Perform presentations and engage in discussions with international customers to identify how SPTS’s equipment can meet their process requirements.
  • Demonstrate deposition processes to meet the agreed specification.
  • Assess results using analytical equipment and appropriate software packages (Excel etc).
  • Undertake problem solving and trouble shooting.
  • Provide regular updates to the sales team on progress of sample/demonstration work
  • Develop good relationships with customers and the sales team.
  • Summarise results in a written report or presentation.
  • Process development.
  • Develop deposition processes
    • Varying the process parameters, (gas types, flows, power pressure etc.) to optimise the properties of a deposited film.
    • Define and run test films.
    • Run marathon tests for new processes and equipment.
  • Plan work and execute plans in a safe, sensible and timely manner.
  • Contribute constructively to the work of project teams for new products and processes.
  • Research into published work relevant to SPTS’s process development.
  • Collect, filter and analyse data to solve complex problems.
    • Creativity and innovation is expected together with an ability to think of novel but practical solutions to problems.
  • Summarise results in a written report or presentation.
  • Write technical reports for patent applications
  • Write technical papers for publication at conferences, seminars etc.
  • Field Support
  • Undertake short term, international visits to customer sites to provide support.
  • Possible secondments to customer sites for 6-12 months to support new processes.
  • Demonstrate and optimise processes at the customer site.
  • Answer questions from customers and field service engineers via phone, e-mail or onsite.
  • Develop good relationships with customers.
  • Communicate results and ideas to relevant co-workers (e.g. other engineers, marketing team, etc)
  • Assist the manufacturing group with machine qualification prior to shipment.
  • Assist training/development of junior/fellow engineers.


  • 5 years experience within the semiconductor field.
  • Well-developed analytical skills including the use of SEM, optical microscope, profilometer, optical film thickness measurement, particle measurement and wafer bow.
  • Knowledge of OES, reflectometry and laser endpoint is would be highly advantageous.
  • Day to day activities would be based in the cleanroom environment and overtime and shifts may be required.
  • Self-motivated and can work independently
  • Working in multi-disciplinary environment - an advantage
  • PVD or ETCH process experience is required
  • Proficiency in English (speaking and writing)
