Group/Division

KLA has manufacturing sites across the globe, including Belgium, China, Germany, Israel, Singapore and Milpitas (CA).  The Global Operations (GOPS) team, comprised of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Global Logistics,  Manufacturing Engineering, Installation, and Quality, is responsible for manufacturing our leading-edge technology.  We partner with our world-wide supply base and our design engineering teams to bring new products to market.  The GOPS team is continuously working to build our products Better, Faster, Cheaper.

Sr. Manager Global Freight and Logistics Operations – Job Description

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for managing and working with the Senior Director of Global Logistics to develop and implement strategy for Global Freight operations.  This includes managing third party transportation providers, customs brokers and reverse logistics.  Role includes direct reports located in US and Singapore with indirect reports across the Globe.  Role includes optimizing operations in freight to balance customer/internal commitments with cost efficiency.   Works closely with spares planning, quality and MFG FG operations to capture logistics requirements and/or opportunities to support a cohesive and successful supply chain.   

As a Senior Manager, Global Freight and Logistics operations you will report to the Senior Director of Global Logistics and lead initiatives for evaluating supply chain distribution models, planning, procurement, inventory and repair product Logistics strategies, participating in the design of logistic processes and procedures, and analyzing the global operations logistics network to help devise a logistics network & strategy to optimize delivery to customers.

This individual must possess hands on logistics operational and technology know-how needed to work successfully in high-pressure, time sensitive situations where customer satisfaction and efficient performance is the ultimate goal.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage our global freight network and optimize freight solutions for our customers, KLA Corporation and internal business constituents and develop best practices to drive standardization, consistency and value to the business.
  • Implement/improve and manage appropriate standardized operational and business metrics to meet or exceed performance requirements on a Global/Regional basis
  • Deal directly with Third Party Freight Forwarders and Key Suppliers (Brokerage)  in both operational and contract negotiation/management, performance review and improvement plans.
  • Provide key leadership role in driving business results on a global scale, applying deep knowledge of regional relevance, regulatory compliance and staff development
  • Ensure performance of Global 3rd Party Freight Payment Provider ensuring processes, controls, reporting and audits are in place according to contract and findings executed at suppliers
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of domestic and International logistics networks for high-value goods including:  airfreight, both upper deck and regular freight, ocean and ground freight, small package courier as well as indepth knowledge of DG shipping and Battery shipments
  • Utilize previously technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead global and regional teams and projects, inclusive of Freight RFP’s and Supplier implementation
  • Ensure Global SOP’s and Supply Chain / Logistics Network Flows are documented and updated
  • Leverage data models to analyze traffic lanes and modes utilized to identify patterns in freight movements (costs, service levels, special requests)

Qualifications

 

Requirements:

  • Prior experience managing global freight and return logistics operations and managing 3PL’s
  • Able to manage multiple and complex priorities across geographies, using an innovative approach to resolving issues
  • Solid financial acumen to understand drivers of both cost and operations and set priorities to manage cost and optimize value
  • Recognized collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to build strong relationships across Business Units, Regional and Functional Teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 10 years in Freight/Logistics field with strong preference for experience in semiconductor equipment industry or other complex, high-mix, low-volume products 
  • Strong business acumen, leadership and people management skills
  • Proven success in developing, delegating to, and empowering staff
