The Wafer Inspection Division (WIN) is the world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced optical inspection tools for inline monitoring of process defects in advanced semiconductor factories.


The Wafer Inspection Division (WIN) is seeking a Software Product Engineer.

Software Product Engineers provide technical expertise in the usage of KLA design-aware inspection tools from product definition through development and testing. In this role you will work with Customers, R&D, Marketing, and Field Applications Engineers to create products that address the unique and complex needs of our end users. This team is responsible for deriving customer and product requirements, driving definition and implementation, and rolling-out of these new software features to the field and customer base.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the field and customers to identify and define product requirements
  • Work with R&D teams to drive and influence the development of new tools, as well as the modification of existing tools to address the needs of customers and market.
  • Support existing design-aware inspection products
  • Run expert-level benchmarks and solve complex customer problems.
  • Develop product flows to improve quality and performance.
  • Manage Beta programs, review documents, and track customer issues..


Must have In-depth knowledge of

  • Software systems troubleshooting in a complex, multi-operating system environment focused on functionality and performance
  • Knowledge of Linux/Windows operating system and IT administration – super user experience

Should have experience with

  • Scripting/Programming with Bash, Python, or Perl
  • Documenting application requirements for implementation by software developers 

Additional desired skills

  • Effective communicator and have a desire to work on collaborative, high-performing teams.
  • Ability to present technical information to audiences of up to 10 engineers
  • Prior work in the EDA or Semiconductor Industry
  • Prior team experience designing or building a product or application that was released to market
  • Basic network and tcp/ip knowledge (IP addresses, ports)
  • Ability to travel up to 75% on short notice and enjoy working in other cultures

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience viewing, manipulating, and/or creating GDS/Oasis files
  • Basic Knowledge of EDA tools used for DRC (Calibre, PVS, IC Validator)
