Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time.

EBeam’s mission encapsulates its role as the “eyes” of KLA’s product line, providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible.  Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

You will be working in a team of highly motivated Software Engineers who create semiconductor Inspection/Review tools by solving high end Physics problems with their mastery of Software. If you come join our team, you will be enabling the Human Race to innovate the next generation of CPUs, GPUs and DL engines like Bionic Chips.

If you believe code is not done when it works, it is done only when it is elegant, clean and has automated Tests to cover it, you are the Candidate we are looking for. Even though we prefer C#, being Polyglot helps.

If you are strong in Object Oriented Concepts, Data Structures and Algorithms with a good understanding of any modern Object Oriented Language and an eye for clean, readable and maintainable code you would fit right in. Having a passion to learn new technologies and the perseverance to take on challenging problems is essential.

  1. I am interested in this role. What do I need to know to be comfortable with this role?
    • Basic Data Structures and Algorithms
    • Object Oriented Principles

  2. Do I need to have a PhD in Physics to work on this role?
    • Certainly not. If you know that Atoms are made of Electrons, Protons and Neutrons. And Electrons repel each otehr, hey you know more than enough to get started.
    • That said if you are a PhD in Physics and are a Programmer, still you can apply, don't need to be shy.
  3. What sort of work actually am I going to do in the team?
  4. Does this mean my day to day work is going to be all about writing low-level protocols and communications?
    • No our work is < 5% about direct low level communicaiton protocols.
    • We as a team create solutions for our customer problems in finding defects in Wafer Manufacturing and improving their yield. This involves a complex problem solving and use of modern Software Concepts that we all love to work with:
      • SOLID OO Software Design
      • Clean Architecture
      • TDD and Agile
      • .net, C#,  Windows Workflow, Dependency Injection, WPF and Electron
      • Reactive Programming Model and Microservices Architecture
      • Scalable Data Pipeline handling
      • Big Data for Analytics Data Collection and mining data using Python with Jupyter for insights
      • Integrating ML .net to consume Deep Learning models from .net code
      • Creating new Algorithms to solve Path Optimization, Calibrating complex EBeam Column and Auto Diagnosing when things go wrong and ensuring an uptime of 99.99999%.
      • Along with this we also write some low level protocols to communicate with low-level hardware.
