Group/Division

This position is for the Knoxville, TN field office.  The Knoxville office heads up the Nanoindentation group of KLA.  Nanoindentation is a technique and instrumentation for measureing the mechanical properties of materials.

The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support.  The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Responsibilities

Intern will be responsible for creating and documenting a sample inventory for the nanoindentation group.  Adequate storage and storage space will be identified and purchased along with an online database of sample characteristics and any nanoindentation data.  The inventory and data will be used to reduce demonstration time and support distributor training.  In addition, the intern will work on generating marketing quality images from testing on samples.  The images will be generated in optical and electron microscopes.  Testing will be done on samples with no current dataset.

Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering or Working Towards B.S. in Engineering.
