Company Overview

Calling the adventurers ready to join a company that's pushing the limits of nanotechnology to keep the digital revolution rolling. At KLA, we're making technology advancements that are bigger—and tinier—than the world has ever seen.

Who are we?  We research, develop, and manufacture the world's most advanced inspection and measurement equipment for the semiconductor and nanoelectronics industries. We enable the digital age by pushing the boundaries of technology, creating tools capable of finding defects smaller than a wavelength of visible light. We create smarter processes so that technology leaders can manufacture high-performance chips—the kind in that phone in your pocket, the tablet on your desk and nearly every electronic device you own—faster and better. We're passionate about creating solutions that drive progress and help people do what wouldn't be possible without us.  The future is calling. Will you answer?

Group/Division

KLA’s brand refresh is part of a broader initiative now under way to raise the level of overall communications.   As structural support, the company has established the Office of Corporate Communications & Brand Management (OCCBM), which is comprised of the leaders of all key functional areas:  Internal Communications, External communications, Government Affairs, Investor Relations, Talent Acquistion and CSR (which includes the KLA Foundation).

The leader we seek will be charged with inspiring and guiding a newly assembled group to become a high-performing team that integrates key functional areas and presents a consistent face across stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

The Global Head of Corporate Communications and Brand Management will:

  • Begin with an assessment of the OCCBM, with a focus on organizational structure, capabilities, possibilities and gaps.
  • Develop an operating plan for the OCCBM that includes a set of key objectives, recommendations on structure and the metrics by which outcomes and impact can be measured.
  • Develop, in tandem, a strategic corporate communications and brand management plan that integrates the narrative and messaging across functional areas and across the global organization.
  • Establish a cohesive communications and brand vision in partnership with executive leadership -- and drive it forward.
  • Create an all-encompassing brand framework and brand story, supported by relevant messaging and compelling visuals.
  • Work globally to engage the organization with the brand strategy while educating on the importance of consistency in how elements are managed and used.
  • Oversee the development of communications and marketing materials that are consistent with KLA’s narrative, including its deeply ingrained ethic of innovation.
  • Develop and manage guidelines for the governance of key corporate digital assets, such as the intranets, company websites and social media platforms.
  • From a process perspective, brand governance will include:
  • Controls for maintaining brand consistency that still enable global employees to have a voice in keeping the brand fresh.
  • Mechanisms for cascading messages throughout the organization and for getting feedback on how new programs and directions are perceived.
  • Procedures, policies and guidelines (in areas such as the development and review of corporate materials).
  • Training programs on all of the above.
  • Support KLA leaders in creating and preparing for internal and external forums through which to share key messages and important information.
  • Work with the HR organization to capture what makes the company meaningful to current employees and what would make it compelling to potential future employees.
  • Create a crisis plan that uses all communications channels to deliver a rapid response.
  • Explore new ways to create deeper and more immediate connectivity with the global workforce.
  • Ensure that information shared with the news media and other external stakeholders is also shared in a timely manner with employees.
  • Mentor team members to support their professional development as communicators.
  • Ensure that all company communications – written, visual, digital and verbal – have an inherent brand sensibility.
  • Lead engagements with third-party brand partners.
  • Look out over the horizon to anticipate events that may create issues or opportunities and help to prepare for them.
