Company Overview

Calling the adventurers ready to join a company that's pushing the limits of nanotechnology to keep the digital revolution rolling. At KLA, we're making technology advancements that are bigger—and tinier—than the world has ever seen.

Who are we?  We research, develop, and manufacture the world's most advanced inspection and measurement equipment for the semiconductor and nanoelectronics industries. We enable the digital age by pushing the boundaries of technology, creating tools capable of finding defects smaller than a wavelength of visible light. We create smarter processes so that technology leaders can manufacture high-performance chips—the kind in that phone in your pocket, the tablet on your desk and nearly every electronic device you own—faster and better. We're passionate about creating solutions that drive progress and help people do what wouldn't be possible without us.  The future is calling. Will you answer?

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time.

EBeam’s mission encapsulates its role as the “eyes” of KLA’s product line, providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible.  Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.

We are looking for a software engineer with a passion for scaling real-time computer vision and machine learning algorithms to production worthy solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to add direct value to a multi-million dollar, ultra high bandwidth inspection system. The responsibilities include working closely with algorithm engineers and research scientists to develop a good understanding of cutting edge computer vision algorithms and transforming them to optimized implementations with rigor on tests.

The role also provides an opportunity to have an impact on the design of next generation HPC system that supports executing hybrid algorithms on CPUs and GPUs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with algorithm engineers to break down algorithm modules and associated pipeline into streamlined work/process flows
  • Identifying the right SW design / architecture for implementation and hold detailed design reviews
  • Implement optimized versions of the algorithms that includes system level integration and testing
  • Build automated test suites for existing and new algorithms
  • Work on building supporting SW infrastructure to enable rapid development and deployment of cutting edge algorithms
  • Understand algorithm bottlenecks via detailed throughput analysis and propose / implement solutions to overcome them
  • Ability to thrive in a highly cross functional setup by interfacing with other SW modules, systems engineering and applications teams
  • Evaluate existing algorithms and propose/develop optimized alternative implementation: CUDA, SIMD (SSE, AltiVec, etc.)

Minimal qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of C/C++ and object oriented programming
  • Experience with Linux development and debugging environment
  • Working knowledge of image processing algorithms
  • Experience with OpenCV libraries

Ways to stand out:

  • Experience working on image/video processing systems
  • Experience with IPP libraries
  • Demonstrable experience of algorithm optimization schemes
  • Knowledge of machine learning, deep learning algorithms
  • Experience with CUDA
  • Experience with python and tensorflow

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic)
Master's Level Degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience
