The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Product Training, and Technical Support. The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.
GSS has 2 groups. The service group and the Pro group. The service group has segmented the service market into 3 distinct segments. NPI, Volume and Mature. The mature market consists of service business from the KLA phase 7 tools in the customer install base. The Pro group refurbishes, certifies and relaunches phase 7 systems products. The Pro group also develops enhancements for phase 7 products. The marketing for service, systems and enhancements for phase 7 business is managed by the Pro group.
The KLA mature market is growing due to a resurgence of capacity and utilization of legacy design rule semiconductor chip manufacturing. Increased shipments of systems and enhancements driven by strong market segments in Automotive and IOT. The service business component had previously been declining year over year and now has finally returned to growth mode.
This position will be to fill the role of the Pro group Product Marketing Manager (PMM) for Surfscan products. Mature Surfscan products SP2, SP1 and 6XXX. The scope of this role is to fulfill a dual function in the KLA Pro Division of GSS – Marketing function and Program Management function.
The KLA Pro Marketing organization has implemented what is called Product Growth Teams in order to determine the best way to optimize the resources that GSS invests in the mature market and within a product family in order to maximize the ROI to KLA. The PMM will be responsible for the following marketing functions:
Develop the business plan for the product family – Set the growth targets for service revenue, service market share and service contract penetration.
Drive market validation strategies to determine what the Surfscan customers need to improve the capabilities of the products (sensitivity / t’put / sw features) and what they need from their service products or initiatives (contracts, enhancement bundles, matching, etc)
Develop product and service initiative roadmaps and drive the programs to bring the products and initiatives to market.
Present the business plan at the quarterly business review to the GSS Sr. Staff.
The PMM will be responsible for the following program management functions
Run the Product Growth Team meeting - Prioritization the product family needs for Service, Systems and Enhancements and make decisions with GSS cross-functional stakeholders on what product initiatives to pursue.
Depending on the project type, a PLC process may be required and in that case the PMM, with the support of his or her team must drive the PLC process dates, define the stakeholders deliverables and coordinate the phase exits according to the project schedule.
The PMM must manage Program Resources (people, tools, budgets) in a way that maximizes GSS ROI, but also balances other needs of the business, like service revenue initiatives like, KTTS, Matching, Cost of Service Reduction, Quality, etc.
The PMM will own the marketing deliverable and will be required to create the MRD for the products, Define the TAM and SAM forecast for a new offering, do competitive analysis and product pricing.
Candidate capabilities are as follows:
Excellent Program management capabilities are a must. Knowledge of KLA PLC process is highly desirable.Cross-functional leadership skills are also a must. Candidate must be willing to work very hard to build cross-functional relationships and have the ability to work in a highly complex environment where decision need to be made to trade off multiple factors simultaneously with limited information.
Ability to compare and contrast apples and oranges and to develop processes and BKM that do not exist today.
Capability to take on an assignment or handle a situation where there is no precedent on how to handle it and drive consensus across a cross-functional team on what decision to make.
Excellent cross-functional management skills to enable the KLA Pro PMM processes of scale across all organizations. Good analytical skills are important. Candidate must be able to analyze data to illustrate the opportunity or challenge. Finally, good communication skills (written and oral, including presentation skills are needed to enable influence of multiple stakeholders)
Good business accumen and the ability to learn the key concepts of Product Marketing: TAM measurement / SAM Forecasting / PSA strategies / Value Selling / ROI calculation
Bachelors’ degree and / or Master's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience. Knowledge of SFS, BBP or LS products is high desirable: 2XXX, 9XXX, SP1, SP2X. Previous product marketing or applications experience is helpful.
Knowledge of KLA processes an big plus: PLC, ECO, NPI, NPL, etc
Great verbal and written communication skills - especially with MS PPT. Good systems engineering knowledge of tool function and application in the customer space.
