Company Overview

Calling the adventurers ready to join a company that's pushing the limits of nanotechnology to keep the digital revolution rolling. At KLA, we're making technology advancements that are bigger—and tinier—than the world has ever seen.

Who are we?  We research, develop, and manufacture the world's most advanced inspection and measurement equipment for the semiconductor and nanoelectronics industries. We enable the digital age by pushing the boundaries of technology, creating tools capable of finding defects smaller than a wavelength of visible light. We create smarter processes so that technology leaders can manufacture high-performance chips—the kind in that phone in your pocket, the tablet on your desk and nearly every electronic device you own—faster and better. We're passionate about creating solutions that drive progress and help people do what wouldn't be possible without us.  The future is calling. Will you answer?

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed.

The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

This position requires a candidate with the strong knowledge of electron and ion optics. Familiarity with existing optical simulation software is a strong plus. The position will require a broad skill set including simulation, theoretical understanding, and experimental execution.

  • Test and analyse solid-state electron-emitter array for use in advanced wafer or reticle inspection equipment. Provide technical leadership in improving the emitter performance as well as developing next-generation units.
  • Simulation of electron optical elements performance and e-beam arcing behaviour. Do data analysis, and extract clear results and conclusions from data sets.
  • Execution of experimental plans, debugging of test setups and fixtures. Analysis the test results and correlate to related simulations.
  • Be a critical part within CTO Singapore team to work with scientists in CTO Milpitas and strategic suppliers to identify, investigate, and develop promising new concepts, methods of electron-emitters and other electron optical elements.
  • Work with outside vendors to optimise process of key components, qualify products from those suppliers to ensure the performance can meet KLA requirement.

  • Ph.D. in Physics or related with at least 5 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge in electron and ion optics, with hand-on skills of experimental fixture setup and design of experiments.
  • Capable of taking assignments with high complexity and finding effective, creative solutions
  • Must be excellent experimentalist with good problem-solving and data analysis skills
  • Experience with electron beam systems, high vacuum and high voltage.
  • Familiar with microanalysis techniques, such as SEM microscope and imaging system.
  • Team player with good communication skills
