With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA-Tencor to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA-Tencor's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA-Tencor’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division provides industry leading metrology solutions for worldwide semiconductor IC manufacturers.  The FaST Division portfolio of metrology products includes hardware and software solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension (CD), composition, and resistivity measurement systems.  These products are essential for the IC manufacturers as they provide critical metrology capabilities for the development and implementation of their advanced IC processes.  The FaST division is committed to support our customers to achieve performance entitlement of our solution and we effectively partner with our customers from their early research and development phase to the high volume in-line manufacturing implementation specific for their process needs.  The division consists of a global team located in US, Israel, China, and India.



  • As the Mechanical Engineering Manager you will be responsible for training, mentoring, and managing the team of 10+ engineers to develop our next generation products and sustain existing products.
  • Work with other Division Management to establish strategic plans, objectives, and priorities.
  • Work with Program Managers to develop Program Plans and set priorities.
  • Manage schedule and budget for mechanical engineering resources on projects.
  • Train and develop engineers in design specifications and requirements gathering.
  • Manage the team through all phases of the design process (concept, development, qualification, and production) and assure designs are of high quality.
  • Develop and Implement design standards and ensure design standards are adhered to.
  • Establish goals and review performance metrics to track accuracy and thoroughness of work.
  • Cross-functional interfacing with multiple teams including: Systems Engineering, Optics, software engineering, and Division management.
  • Written and oral communications to Division and Program Management.



  • BSME or MSME with 15+ years experience in semiconductor capital equipment development.
  • 5+ years Management and/or senior lead position experience.  Demonstrated ability to take a lead role in directing members of a technical work group.
  • Experience with complex systems and in bringing a team to deliver those systems.
  • Experience with precision opto/mechanical assemblies.
  • CAD experience: ProE desirable
  • Experience with thermal, structural and vibration analysis using FEA techniques desirable
  • Experience optimizing systems for cost, schedule, reliability, and/or maintainability.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree with at least 6 years of experience. OR Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 7 years of experience. OR Doctorate (Academic) with at least 5 years of experience.
