KLA-Tencor Careers

High Performance Computing Product Development Engineer

Company Overview

Calling the adventurers ready to join a company that's pushing the limits of nanotechnology to keep the digital revolution rolling. At KLA-Tencor, we're making technology advancements that are bigger—and tinier—than the world has ever seen.

Who are we?  We research, develop, and manufacture the world's most advanced inspection and measurement equipment for the semiconductor and nanoelectronics industries. We enable the digital age by pushing the boundaries of technology, creating tools capable of finding defects smaller than a wavelength of visible light. We create smarter processes so that technology leaders can manufacture high-performance chips—the kind in that phone in your pocket, the tablet on your desk and nearly every electronic device you own—faster and better. We're passionate about creating solutions that drive progress and help people do what wouldn't be possible without us.  The future is calling. Will you answer?

Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA-Tencor to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA-Tencor's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA-Tencor’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time.

EBeam’s mission encapsulates its role as the “eyes” of KLA-Tencor’s product line, providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible.  Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA-Tencor patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

The BBP High Performance Computing (HPC) group operates in the very challenging environment of the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry. The group develops computing infrastructure to support cutting edge image processing and data analytics that is a key component in KLA-Tencor’s Wafer Inspection Systems. These computing infrastructures must be designed to meet demanding and sometimes conflicting constraints on cost, performance, reliability, and serviceability.

This HPC infrastructure design engineering position will report to the HPC group. This engineer will collect system requirements, design and prototype infrastructure systems, as well as perform system integrations. This position will engage vendors to select HW components and infrastructure SW. In addition, this position will release the design to MFG and Service organizations by providing procedures and training.

This position is a unique combination of computing HW hands-on and computing infrastructure SW engineering that is challenged to deliver cost effective and reliable HPC solutions to advance KT’s wafer inspection capabilities. The successful applicant will work with a group of talented engineers and be mentored by senior engineers to gain cutting edge HPC technology and to enhance industrial skills and experience.

The opportunities are limitless in the technical areas, since we are always looking to incorporate leading edge technologies into our design to boost performance and improve reliability. In addition, this job also requires close cooperation with neighboring functional teams.  Candidates with strong leadership potential will also get help to develop and grow in that direction as well.
