The Optical Metrology Division products are used for optical overlay metrology. The portfolio of products includes unique solution packages which are based on hardware and software systems to enhance yield and effectiveness. As a world leader in its field of expertise, the division's products are the most advanced in performance (measurement accuracy of nanometers and below), reliability, ease of use and compatibility with other KLA-Tencor's products.  KLA-Tencor (Israel) controls over 80% of the world market sales in its field, and its products are used by every major semiconductor manufacturer around the world.  KLA-Tencor Israel is located in the Migdal Haemek Industrial Park. The product for this position is being co-developed among global teams located in Ge, US-Ca and Israel.

The Customer Engagement team is our field based customer facing organization.  We partner closely with our customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of products, services, software and expertise, to help them manage yield throughout their fabrication process—from research and development to final volume production.   Responsibilities of this group include maintaining strategic client relationships, identifying and closing sales opportunities, ensuring our products meet performance capabilities & expectations, providing critical solutions for improved yield performance, and collecting requirements for future products by understanding customer processes and technology trends.  Partnering with our service organization and factory divisions, this diverse and dynamic team helps ensure alignment between customer needs and corporate roadmaps to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.


The Field Applications Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing product applications for new products to provide maximum value to the customers.

The candidate is expected to support the following tasks

  • Focus on a new product related introduction such as characterization, alpha testing, beta testing and pilot tools in the ramp phase.  
  • Responsible for providing technical applications support for the development and implementation of KLA-Tencor products in customer fabrication facilities.
  • Responsible for measurements and design of experiments, data analysis using computational tools, reporting and providing recommendations on further experimental work to achieve the program objectives.
  • Drive collaboration and communication with the customer
  • Generate demo and test reports for internal and customer review.
  • Makes presentations on all aspects of product
  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of various factors
  • Perform product diagnosis, problem resolution, interface with software, algorithms and systems engineering to verify that hardware and software problems have been resolved. Works closely with engineering teams to improve the products and implement plans
  • Assists program and account staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications
  • Provides follow-up support in disseminating technical information on specific applications
  • Document all test results and lessons learned in BKMs (Best Known Methods), training documents, demo reports, or, Alpha/Beta test reports and transfer product knowledge to Field Applications teams.
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results
  • Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problem

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate must have MS/PhD in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related fields and strong technical background.
  • Candidate should preferably have experience in the semiconductor fabrication industry, or equivalent experience and education
  • Candidate must have excellent communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must also be self-driven, and a strong team player.
  • Background in optics, spectroscopy, image processing, signal analysis, control, EM modeling, electron beam instruments, statistical analysis is preferred
  • Candidate should preferably have experience in electron beam technology, or equivalent experience and education.
  • Candidate should preferably have experience in MATLAB analysis software.
  • Candidates should have a working knowledge of computer operating systems, networks, and analysis tools
  • Candidates should have knowledge of statistics, statistical analysis methods and analysis SW

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree with at least 3 years of experience. OR

Doctorate degree
